About Us
Today Joann shares her love for horses with the "next generation," including granddaughter Mary Clare Englehart, pictured here.

In 1992, Joann Knapp purchased what was then an abandoned racing stable as a labor of love -- to create a space for her four young daughters to grow up active and outdoors...and to share her passion for horses.

On the road to making that vision a reality, Joann defined a business goal as well -- to make Crosswinds where the Hudson Valley learns to ride.

Today Crosswinds is a premiere hunter/jumper riding facility -- home to nearly 50 boarder and lesson horses, where literally thousands of children and adults have developed their riding skills over the years.

Daughters Clare and Taylor now ride, train and teach as full-time professionals at Crosswinds. Their students are consistent winners at local and 'A' horse shows throughout the East Coast.
